If you are planning an outdoor photo session in Cardiff or its surroundings, one of the most important things to plan is what to wear. Here are a few tips for putting together your outfits:
Choose a colour scheme:
The first thing to consider is how your clothes complement the natural environment around you. Think about what will look best in the location you have chosen for the session.
I would recommend choosing just 2 to 3 colours for your palette.
Seasons:
The time of the year can make certain colours and clothes look better in particular seasons.
Spring and summer:
Choose soft neutral colours. Light blues, greens and yellows are great options. Also warm pinks and white work really well in parks and the forest.
Autumn:
Browns, rusty oranges, golds and creams work really well for this season.
Winter:
Reds, browns and whites are my favourite colours for this cold season.
What to avoid:
To make sure your pictures look great, I would avoid clothes with pictures and slogans.
Some colours such as black, neon, and very bright colours are also not a good idea.
For family sessions, I always suggest that mom chooses an outfit she feels confident and beautiful in and then have everyone’s outfit coordinated from there.
Arrange your outfits ahead of time. Make sure all clothes are clean, pressed and ready before your session.
